I have only been a chinchilla owner for a couple of months. Last week I
decided to introduce a new chinchilla. I purchased her from a pet store
and she seems pretty young but I cannot guess an exact age.
Unfortunately I have already switched her diet abruptly, which I now
realize was a mistake. She has come down with diarrhea which doesn't
seem to be clearing up. I'm pretty sure its just from the change in
diet. Will this go away on its own? I have been reading alot and I know
it is dangerous to a chinchilla. If anyone has any suggestions I would
really appreciate it. Thanks.

I use very burnt toast mine love it
also water bottle cleaning regime - very big bottle (about a pint) cleaned
when empty with hot 40+ degs water then cold water then refilled with cold
water - helps keep it at bay :)
hope this helps

Take your chin to a vet and make sure the diarrhea isn't caused by
something else. If it's food related, then keep the chin on a strictly
pellet and hay diet, with absolutely no treats.

My first had the same problem, I think she was too young for normal
adult chin food. Give here a lot of water and some vitamin C. If she
don't loss weight, I think the problem will sole itself, it was the
case for my one, she is now a very big chin.
